Letter to 5th grader

Hey there Tiffany!

I am Ravina Shankar. Actually my real name is Nathalia, and that is what you might see in the computer and the Year Book, but please just call me Ravina. I normally just go by my middle name which is Ravina, but just so you don't get confused, you might see Nathalia Shankar, Ravina Shankar, or Nathalia Ravina Shankar on school things. I have been in JIS for about 8 or 9 years. I started at JIS at about the year 2000, and I really enjoy going to school here. JIS is my favorite school in my whole life, until now. Actually, last year, I was also going to Pattimura, and Ms. T's class too.I have been living in Jakarta for my whole life.

Well, since I am pretty much done with introducing my self, I am sure that you would want to know a little bit about Middle School (MS)

Here in Middle School, It ROCKS I mean you are going to LOVE it.

There is better food, more breaks, and even MORE FUN classes and E.T.C . I REALLY LOVE it here, and I'm sure that you will like it TOO. Every day you have to bring your ID card to school. You need it to be able to enter school and also to check out books from the Library.

The classes in MS, might be a little TOO long for you at first. Our Core Classes - English, Social Studies, Math and Science, are about 90 minutes long, and our Elective Classes - Indonesian 1a & 1b, Spanish 1a &1b, French 1a & 1b , Mandarin 1a & 1b, Beginning Band, Intermediate Band, Advanced Band, Beginning Strings, Intermediate Strings, Advanced Strings and also Health. These Electives classes are for about 70 minutes.

You have to take P.E., Core Classes, a Language, Band, or Strings, are classes that if you choose you have to do them for the whole school year, which is 2 semesters. Health, is a class which you will have to take for 1 semester of the year.

And of course, since our classes are longer, MS end 40 minutes after the normal Elementary School. It still starts at the same time, 7:30, and it ends at 2:40 instead of 2:00.

In MS, there are a lot of fun Clubs and other activities that you could enroll in. I am taking Public Speaking and Math Club as my Clubs. There are a lot of other fun clubs to, like The Rock Climbing Club, Drama Club, The Horse Riding Club, and more. The Club Public Speaking is basically teaching how to talk in front of people without getting nervous or freaking out. Math Club, i s basically about doing you Math Homework, and if you need any help with it.

Just like you guys have Pasir Mukti and Tanjung Lesung, we have ESP. ESP stands for Extended Study Program, where we go to Bandung and have loads of fun. There are a lot of activities that you could do in ESP!

Fudge-A-Mania

Fudge-A-Mania is a HILARIOUS book by Judy Blume. It's a fiction book about a boy named Fudge who is 5 years old, and is getting married to his older brothers (peter) worse enemy. He was going to get married during Christmas Vacation and they were going away, but they are staying right next door to Sheila's house.

This Book is about how Peter survives the summer with his worse enemy and also how he would take Sheila as his brothers wife.

If you are looking for a HILARIOUS book, this is the right book for you to read.

Chicken Soup for the Girls Soul

This is book is a tremendous book for girls. It is by many different authors and it is very interesting. For girls in their teens and preteens this is the right book for them to read. It's and non-fiction book filled with tons of funny, embarrassing, sad, etc. stories about girls and these stories are also by girls. There are different parts of this book and each chapter is filled with mini stories and opinions from girls.



If you are looking for a good book to read, and if you are a girl, then read Chicken Soup for the Girls Soul, because it is the right book for you.

Just Another Day In My Insanely Real Life

Just Another Day in My Insanely Real Life is an extraordinary book. I loved it! It is by Barbara Dee and it is an fiction book. It is very interesting and amazing. This book is about a girl named Cassey who live with her mom, her older sister-Miranda, and her little brother-Jackson. Before their parents divorced, they used to live in a big house in New York. Now, when their parents divorced, they had to move to a small condo and they were very upset.

And now, since their mom has to work full time now, Cassey feels that she has to do all the work, because her sister is so not responsible and her brother always needs help with his home work. Her sister will say that she will help her, but at the end Cassey is the one doing all the work. I also love this book very much, because at the end of every chapter the author will also make it a very interesting cliff hanger.

Well this is what I think about this book and I would recommend you to read it a.s.a.p.
